deep relaxation and live cello music – Sunday, December 7

17:30 - 19:30

50€

Winter is arriving, and with it a natural shift toward stillness. This workshop is designed to honor that need for deep rest, blending slow, spacious Yin with live cello sound healing, creating an immersive experience that soothes the body and quiets the mind.

Let me invite you to WINTER YIN & SOUND, a cosy Sunday December evening designed to bring you back into your body, slow your breath, and settle into the deep rest we naturally crave at this time of year.

We’ll gather in the candlelit calm of Space 20, roll out the mats, and ease into a long, grounding Yin Yoga practice. Expect soothing breathing exercises, supported poses, and the gentle unwinding that comes from giving yourself time.

For the final 30 minutes, you’ll be carried by the warm, resonant vibrations of live cello, played by Iris Higginbotham, cellist and yoga teacher.

We’ll end with a gentle moment together, a cup of warm tea, something to nibble, and time to simply linger if you wish.

Come alone or with a friend, it’s a winter cocoon for the mind and body.

Cello Sound Healing

Cello tones are known for their grounding frequency range: low, enveloping sounds that naturally calm the nervous system by activating the parasympathetic response. Like many forms of sound healing, these deep vibrations help release muscular holding, regulate breath, and support meditative stillness, especially when paired with Yin.

*Iris is a professional cellist, and to keep the workshop affordable while honoring her artistry, a voluntary tip jar will be available for those who’d like to support her music - entirely optional.

Yin is slow, gentle, introspective. It helps release tension and soothe the nervous system in the deepest way. If you’ve been feeling stressed or rushed, or just if you feel like you could use a break, this is for you.

No experience needed, you don’t need to be flexible, just wear comfortable clothing and come as you are.

Backbends don’t have to be painful, scary, or just for the super bendy, but they feel intimidating for a reason. They’re often rushed, misunderstood, or downright uncomfortable.

But what if backbends could be powerful, playful, and make you feel good?

Backbending has been shown to improve posture, boost energy, support spinal health, and even regulate the nervous system, when practiced with awareness.

Backbend Play – Flip Your Grip is designed to help you move past fear, stiffness, or uncertainty, with a focus on shoulder and upper back mobility needed for flipped-grip postures like King Dancer and King Pigeon. We’ll blend spine theory, breath, creative flow, and targeted drills for shoulders, arms, and the back body to help you feel strong, open, and supported in these postures.

Expect a mix of:

  • Flow sequences to prepare the spine, shoulders, and hips

  • Drills and exercises for back-body strength and stability

  • Partner work and props to guide your body safely

  • Step-by-step flipped grip practice with straps, walls, or active foot catches

Whether you’re a beginner using a strap or already confident with flipped grips, you’ll have options that meet you where you are.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Open shoulders and upper back safely for flipped-grip backbends

  • Strengthen the back body to support your postures

  • Use your breath and props to find stability and control

  • Explore creatively, safely, and joyfully, at your own level

Perfect for you if:

  • You want to work on shoulders and upper back flexibility for deeper backbends

  • You’re curious how strength, mobility, and alignment come together

  • You want to explore flipped-grip variations safely, beginner or advanced

  • You’re ready to feel more open, supported, and confident in your backbends

Location

The workshop will be held at The Space, 248 Rue du Faubourg St Antoine, 75012 Paris (Metro: Nation / Reuilly - Diderot)
